My first ever PRIDE!! It was such an amazing day with amazing rides, live music but most importantly to see so many people stand together to support that statement that 'love is love'. You could feel the atmosphere in the air of happiness and openness, everyone at pride was completely themselves and weren't scared or worried for being judged, and it was pretty incredible to witness this. So weather your straight or apart of the LGBTQ+ community I strongly advise you to attend Pride 2018, I know that I definatley will!!
So your straight but your going to gay pride???
I attended pride with 3 of my best friends, and when I told others that I was going the most common question I got asked was..... But aren't you straight??
Yep apparently gay pride is an exclusive event where if your straight then you are no longer invited, obviously this isn't true, but I was so shocked by how many people believed this to be true. I see gay pride as being a celebration of love weather thats love with a girl or a guy or loving your true self, not abut what sexuality you are, it's a place where you can really be who you want to be and be in love with whom ever you desire without feeling alone or judged. Now I'm going to be completely honest with you, growing up I didn't know a lot of gay or trans people and I had never even heard of terms like asexual or pansexual, it's crazy how much I learnt at pride about others, and how lucky I'am in the way that my sexuality is something that has never caused me any problems or issues, that me being a girl who likes boys is seen as the 'normal', when there are people constantly having to fight for the right to love who they want and having to prove themselves to close minded strangers, I'am proud of everyone who attends gay pride, it has become such an incredible movement which more and more people have joined, this is progression of the world becoming more accepting of everyone being who they want to be. Which is pretty badass.
